A vast and varied musical journey
Recording artist, singer and composer Martha Demetri-Lewis continues on a vast and varied musical journey which marries the urban blues of Athens in the 1920's 'Rembetika' with urban London. Martha D Lewis has recently presented and was a singer in the documentary film entitled 'My Sweet Canary' by the award-winning Isreali director Roy Sher. Martha's new recording and performing venture- inspired by the making of the film and Martha's musical background as a composer- provides a stimulating new contribution to the margins and borders of World music. Courageous interpretation and arrangements of music from 20's-50's, the meeting and melting pot of Eastern Mediterrenean music and new jazz infused compositions, Martha D Lewis' project drives a spirited, high powered ensemble of top class musicians from the Jazz and World music stage to communicate her vision.
